Philippe Theunissen, a 41-year-old entrepreneur, has been appointed as the new CEO of Caiz Development, a Fiqh-compliant fintech startup in Frankfurt, Germany. With a diverse background in AI, finance, and blockchain, he has gained valuable experience living and working in various countries, including China, Belgium and the Netherlands. Presently, he has been living in Frankfurt with his family for the past 5 years and is deeply committed to making a positive impact on society through his work at Caiz.
Philippe’s mission at Caiz is to, “create an ethical financial ecosystem that provides our users with ethical and Islamic compliant financial products that empower our users to build a stable and bright financial future,” says Philippe; “a future that not only increases our users’ wellbeing, but also the wellbeing of our entire societies,” he continues.
When we look at the world, there are over a billion Muslims who have no access to Islamic compliant banking services and financial products. There are over 1.4 billion people who are still unbanked. And there is a fast-growing group of people everywhere in the world, who are desperate for an alternative to our current fiat financial system that promotes short-term selfish profit maximization. For all those people are we, at Caiz, building that ethical and Islamic compliant financial alternative.
Trivia: “I think it’s important to lead by example when it comes to sustainability and eco-friendliness. By biking to work and taking my kids to school on my bicycle, I hope to inspire others to consider more environmentally-friendly modes of transportation.”
As the new CEO of Caiz Development, Philippe aims to build a thriving and inclusive crypto-based financial ecosystem adhering to Fiqh principles, believing that blockchain technology can revolutionize the financial industry. He is confident in his ability to lead Caiz through its current phase of growth, committed to building a team that shares his passion for innovation and creating solutions that benefit the wider community.
“I believe ‘real capitalism’ is one of the best systems to organize the long-term development of individual wellbeing and of the wellbeing of society. It promotes long-term economic behaviour. I called it ‘real capitalism’ on purpose as it has nothing to do with what we currently call capitalism. When I learned about Islamic finance, I was astounded how close it is to real capitalism. It makes people work together in a long-term manner, with alignment in their goals, and with fair risk-sharing. The focus is on earning a profit by making the world a better place. That is what we need, and deep down, we all want.”
The strength of Islamic finance ethics, the strength of Caiz as a company and as a family, and the commitment of our community is what made me accept this position to be the new CEO of Caiz Development. “I’m honoured and fully dedicated to make sure we build this alternative, ethical financial system.” Philippe
Looking ahead to the future, 2023 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for Caiz under the leadership of Philippe Theunissen. As the new CEO of Caiz Development, he is ready to tackle the challenges that lie ahead and guide the company towards success. With a clear roadmap in place, the team is focused on bringing their vision to life and achieving their goal of going public and listing on exchanges. With Philippe at the helm, Caiz is well positioned to navigate the rapidly evolving world of fintech and continue building a more inclusive financial ecosystem for all.
